This year’s Keynote address was delivered by the UK Managing Director of Worldwide Production Agency, Barnaby Laws.
Barnaby’s first taste of the film business was as a trainee electrician on a low-budget British feature film in his gap year. But he knew then that wherever his career took him, it had to be in film. After two years of practical experience of lighting on set, Barnaby joined the UK’s busiest lighting company – and subsidiary of Panavision – Panalux. Starting out as tea boy and filing clerk, Barnaby eventually rose to the heights of Sales Manager, gaining invaluable experience of all kinds of film productions, and earning the respect of filmmakers in all sectors as the go-to guy for their productions. Now as the UK MD of the Worldwide Production Agency, Barnaby represents a roster of cinematographers and production designers including UK Music Video Awards nominees Brett Turnbull, Pau Castejon, Rob Witt, Alex Delgado and James Rhodes.
Barnaby shaared his insights on the inner workings of the music video production business, his reflections on the present state of the industry and his hopes for the future of creativity in the medium.
